GLEAM: NOCTURNAL IMPRESSIONS FROM LONDON TO AMSTERDAM (2022)

‘There is freedom in entering a space without knowing what will happen, who you'll meet, what you'll see: at night, there is room for those who aren't accepted during the day.’

In her new audio-visual exhibition, Félice Knol explores London and Amsterdam's nightlife in its rawness and playfulness; darkness and light. As a follow-up to 'BLISS: A CELEBRATION OF YOUTH CULTURE IN THE CAPITAL' (2021), Félice Knol transports one place to another through video, photography and sound: connecting London’s energetic, ever changing nightlife to Amsterdam’s club culture. She explores interactions between the atmosphere, energy and people of the two capitals. Is it possible to recreate a sense of belonging and community: a feeling of freedom?

The exhibition includes audiovisual contributions by London-based artists Murphy Johnson, Deepanshu Sharma, Cleopatra Jahina, and Keri-Luke. Sounds are provided by London born and bred musician OMELET and DJ Menke, based in Amsterdam and Berlin.

The exhibition opens Thursday, June 23rd, with a club evening in the epic space of Garage Noord and runs until July 7th, during Garage Noord's opening times.

Félice Knol (1998) is a multidisciplinary artist based in London and Amsterdam. Her artistic practice investigates the intersection between the social and the visual. Human interaction and social behaviour are recurring themes in Félice Knol's work. Her background in Sociology and Art History is the foundation of her research- and theory based projects.
